The Mystery of Music
by Adrian Daub, Professor of Comparative Literature and German Studies, Stanford University
Our topic this week is the Mystery of Music. Music is an amazing thing. It can move us to its groove and or make us cringe. It can lift us up or bring us down. But exactly how does music work its magic on the mind?  What separates good music from bad?  And why do different people react so differently to the very same music?  Those are just some of the questions we address on this week’s episode.

Thank you, Heather. This is a great addition to the experiments of the Tuesday group.

William Dunn

This is a local artist (Pescadero, I think) that paints a lot of San Francisco and the Pacific Coast. I discovered him on an Australian show called "Colour in Your Life."
“For me, painting is about trying to capture the essence of things.  Subjects and scenes alike have an innate mood and character. I want the painting to tell the story more than the surface of the scene exposes – more than the viewer expects.  I hope to touch that intangible quality with my painting, if I can. Pursuing that feeling is what keeps it interesting for me - and always coming back for more.”

Name that Color!
A Goofy Quiz:
We perceive differences in the wavelength as color, but the language of color has meaning and history far beyond that. Although there are some who can hear, smell, or even touch color, the rest of us can have feelings for color. This quiz is decidedly more narrow, focused only on the names of colors in the visual spectrum.

Mary's Paintings at Mix Traditions
I want to let people know about Mix Traditions as a good place to hang a show. Florentino [owner of Mix Traditions] says no one else has approached him yet. So far I have sold 4 paintings from 3 different buyers. Great opportunity for the next person who is ready. -Mary
The info is: Mix Traditions
800 Cortland Ave, 415-792-6145

The blank wall in this photo is now filled with Mary's paintings. There is more space available on another wall. -Shirley

Valentine's End

This is most, but not all, of the Valentines that were painted by the Tuesday coffee group. It was a fun and warming and charming month.

Painting the Figure in Watercolor

“The human figure is a source of endless inspiration. Every figure and every pose is unique.”
